This comment from Aficionado brought back some memories that I wanted to share.

There were 3 people in my life, older gentlemen around my parents' age, they're all in their 60s and 70s now. They're all successful businessmen, married with kids. I heard these stories when I was younger, but I didn't put two and two together until recently, when I started punting. Even though they don't know each other at all, the situations were surprisingly similar: Guy goes to see hookers. Guy gets hooked by a special girl. Girl gives a sob story about her upbringing. Girl needs money to make a better life & leave the industry, whether it's for school or to start a small business, or she's sick with cancer and needs money to see a doctor. Guy falls for it and starts dumping cash. Guy says he'll leave his wife and kids to marry the girl. Family members find out, guy gets mad & threatens to divorce. Guy tells girl he'll marry her after the divorce is finalized (1 of the 3 actually went through with it and divorced his wife). One thing's for sure: none of them had a happy ending. Endless scrutiny from friends and family, their kids hate them, reputations tainted, a lot of money lost. And the sad part is the girls always left after getting their bag
. These guys are not dumb btw. They're well-educated, outgoing, leader-type shit, not the typical introverted nerds who can easily be fooled, and yet they got fooled. I always think of them when I develop stronger-than-expected chemistry with the WGs I see. It keeps me grounded. These 3 stories are so cliché, straight out of a Hong Kong drama, that I was very surprised when I found out it happened to people I know. Hopefully this will reach someone who is about to fall in love with a hoe
