ARTICLE: Escort Anahera Marino took thousands of dollars after using ruse to access clients’ accounts

A woman working as an escort used a ruse to gain access to clients’ phones, then transferred thousands of dollars out of their bank accounts.

Anahera Marino is now in prison after two such offences – one in which she took $2500 and another when $10,000 was transferred into her account.

But before she was sent to prison, Marino had pushed for home detention, indicating she wanted to continue her escort work so she could pay her victims’ reparation.

However, a district court judge ruled out the non-custodial sentence, noting that when previously on home detention, Marino cut off her ankle bracelet and absconded for 10 months.

A High Court judge has now denied her appeal against her 16-and-a-half-month prison term, saying “Ms Marino’s risk of reoffending currently remains unacceptably high if she was not in custody”.

Marino has a criminal history dating back to 2013, including dishonesty, violence, drug offences and many breaches of court sentences.

A probation officer’s report said she tends “to live by her own rules without consideration of long-term consequences”.

It also said Marino has an “inflated sense of self-worth” with limited self-regulation and a propensity for violence.

Her lawyers have said she has a “complex” personal history and had to navigate a difficult upbringing.

Haha, she must be a real piece of work. I wonder how much more she got from people that never reported it.
 
Yeah probably a few married guys that never went to the police. And maybe some inept dudes that never even noticed money was missing. And if she's willing to do all that who knows what other criminal things she did.
 
Good to see the judge give her a custodial sentence unlike the McPedo top cop but it was only because the judges hand was forced due to her previous history of lengthy absconding while on home D (a sentence of laying on the sofa at home watching telly drinking woodstocks and smoking the P pipe with your criminal mates), sadly though for a 16 month sentence she'll probably only do a third so she'll be back out there stealing from everyone again in 5-6 months time. No disrespect to the people booking her but why would you she was a big rough looking hua with tattoo's all around her neck she looked like she crawled out from a gang house and was asking $400-500 for a root, the only reviews I ever saw of her were bad reviews and warnings of her not delivering agreed and paid for services

I was skimming the article quickly and when it showed the picture of the woman I initially thought it was Anahera Marino but it was the judge haha.
