Some creepy trainee doctor in Sydney pulled the old fake bank transfer trick on unsuspecting sugar babies. Then blocked them on WhatsApp after doing the deed. He found the victims on seeking.com, one was 28 years old and the other 23. He offered to pay each one $2000 for unprotected sex.

I guess this is a stark reminder to sugar babies and escorts to make sure the money is in your account before you do the service. It is also a reminder to punters that you can be charged for not paying!

Worst thing is she confronted him about it after and gave him the opportunity to pay her before she went to the police. He had the option to pay and end it there but was too cheap and threw away his entire career! I recall a similar case in NZ not long ago.
 
Interestingly he got convicted of rape because of what was essentially a scam.

He also knew he was up against a rape charge as the SW warned him about it before giving him the option.

I'm certain when the police started prosecuting, the tables would have turned around where he would be chasing after her to pay what's owing. Too dumb to realise the consequences. He assumed sex workers would do nothing and thought he could flick them off.

There was another case in Melbourne recently, a well-established businessman was ripping off girls.
He wasn't quite as blatant, he would make some payments but others would be reversed, some were fake, some were real, he walked the line where the girls were never sure if he was just ignorant about payments and was a potential cash cow and a large payment was just about to come through. He managed to keep his game going for a long time, finally a few girls realised they were seeing the same guy with the same tricks and took him to the cleaners.
All details of the case were suppressed, the cunt probably paid the media?

They use a similar argument here in regards to stealthing. Consent was dependent on a condom being used so no condom equals no consent.

There was also a similar case in New Zealand not long ago. Over here the court found it's not classified as rape... However he was still charged with obtaining by deception.

If a young pretty girl decides to sleep with a sleazy older guy that she normally would never even look at (eg, us) for $1000, that makes it bearable for her. She consents.
If she doesn't get the payment, not only has she been ripped off $1000, she has also had the sleazy older guy fuck her. Or rape her actually, because consent was only because of the money.

What you described was deception, not rape imo. In my mind rape requires a verbal or physical rejection of some sort, and ofcourse consciousness of both parties.

Rape hinges on consent. If you do not consent to a sexual act, it is being performed against your desire or will.
Consent by fraud, ie promising payment but not delivering, in Australia is (rightly, in my opinion) legally deemed to not be consent.

Being tested in the courts. Maybe a new law that fits the bill a bit better than a rape charge can be brought in as a result.

Just to be clear here, because I know that post will get some people's panties in a twist, I'm not making fun of rape.

I'm just trying to demonstrate the problems with classifying "obtaining sex by deceit" as rape. Once you do that, it gets very murky in terms of what kinds of deception are serious enough to invalidate consent and what kinds are not. And this is essentially what the judge said during the trial.

There is obviously a huge difference between someone who never consented to sex in the first place and someone who willingly consented but did so because they were lied to about something. There are also cases in between, such as stealthing, where it was consensual but becomes non-consensual.

My point is that once you say deception can turn otherwise consensual sex into rape, things start to get pretty murky. What kinds of lies are enough to invalidate consent, and which ones aren't? Where exactly do you draw the line? Should it only be considered in cases where payment is involved? But then payment doesn't necessarily have to be monetary...

If they do actually change the law around this, like they have in Australia, I just hope it's very clearly defined where the line is drawn. Otherwise, things might not be looking too good for OrgyDome's future freedom...

Seriously though, it is a very grey area. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Add alcohol - and drugs nowadays - to the mix, where horny, impaired decision-making can lead to he said/she said 'I did but I didn't want to' moments.
